15th Asia Pacific Conference on Transportation and the Environment (APTE) 2026, 8 to 10 July 2026, Jeju Island, South Korea

The 15th APTE 2026 was held from 8 to 10 July 2026 in Jeju Island, South Korea. The event was organised by the Korean Society of Intelligent Transport System and KAIST Cho Chun Shik Graduate School of Mobility. The conference was held at Haevichi Hotel & Resort in Jeju Island. There were 450 participants from 21 countries and regions. 300 papers were presented in 30 oral tracks and 6 poster sessions.  

 

On Day 1, the welcome addresses were delivered by Prof. Dongjoo Park (Co-General Chair of 15th APTE Organising Committee and President of the Korean Society of Intelligent Transport Systems), and Prof. Kitae Jang (Head of Cho Chun Shik Graduate School of Mobility, KAIST). This was followed by five keynote lectures, namely,

 

  1. "Driving Service Provider - Autonomous Driving Ecosystem Framework as the First Operator for Physics AI" by Prof. Young-ky Kim, Chair of the Autonomous Driving Committee, The National Academy of Engineering of Korea; Adjunct Professor at KAIST; Former President of Samsung Electronics Network Business.

  2. "Re-Designing Mobility: The AI Revolution in Transportation Infrastructure” by Prof. Tian Fang Fwa, Dean of School of Future Transportation at Chang’an University, China; Emeritus Professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS).

  3. "Reimagining the Urban Movement, Opportunities and Challenges at Network Management – From Reactive Traffic Control to Predictive, AI-Enabled Transport Orchestration” by Prof. Majid Sarvi, Chair in Transport Engineering and Professor of Transport for Smart Cities, and Director of Australian Integrated Multimodal Ecosystem (AIMES) at University of Melbourne, Australia.

  4. "Future Public Transport: Autonomy, Cloud Control and Verticalisation: by Prof. Xiaobo Qu, Changjiang Chair Professor at the School of Vehicle and Mobility at Tsinghua University, China; Member of Academia Europaea.

  5. "How can School Transport be Shaped in Such a Way as to Transform the Mobility of Tomorrow?” by Prof. Lutz Gaspers, Vice President at Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences, Germany.

A total of 300 papers were presented at the conference which covered the following topics:

There were also other participants from Singapore including PES members, practitioners from private companies as well as researchers from NUS. All the Singapore delegates participated actively in the conference.

During the banquet dinner on Day 2 of the conference, it was announced that the 16th APTE Conference will be held in Hong Kong, China, in 2028. The APTE flag was presented by Prof. Fwa Tien Fang to Prof. Wang Yuhong of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, which will host and organize the event.

The 15th APTE 2026 was successfully organised and we hope to meet again at the 16th APTE 2028 in Hong Kong, China.
